Talasnal in the Moonlight
This is a circular night time hike, scheduled near the night of the full moon, normally every Friday. The route starts at the Castle of Arouce in Lousã and has a stop-break when you reach the Schist village of Talasnal.
As twilight gives way to night you will follow the ancient trails where the sounds of the nocturnal wildlife and water running gently down the streams can be pleasantly heard. Upon arriving at Talasnal you are rewarded with a unique experience and breath-taking view of the moonlit sky.
There will be a resting stop in the village where you can drink a local tea infusion, grown from plants of the mountain and taste the traditional Talasnico. This is a sweet little cake, named after the village and made from natural ingredients of the land, such as chestnut, almond and honey.
Once rested from the climb, the descent can begin to the point of origin. Estimated time of arrival is approximately 23h00, weather and number of participants permitting.
What to wear
We advise all participants to wear comfortable clothes and footwear, flashlights or head lamp and hiking or trekking pole.
